What are we doing in Roosevelt County?
By working with Environmental strategies, we want to build and strengthen our community members Protective Factors and counter Risk Factors.
- Protective factors, such as solid family bonds and the capacity to succeed in school, help safeguard youth from substance abuse. In other words, building up a child’s protective factors may decrease their likelihood of substance use, even if risk factors are present.
- Risk factors are excessive use of psychoactive drugs, such as alcohol, pain medications, or illegal drugs. It can lead to physical, social, or emotional harm.
- Family history of addiction. Drug addiction is more common in some families and likely involves an increased risk based on genes. …
